4th gen in very good standing JW here. This is a nice venting site when my frustrations with this imperfect Org get the best of me, also a good site to e-see ex-JWs and the misinformed become self-fulfilling prophecies while throwing out the baby with the bath water.

i was talking to an uber dub friend last night who lives in the san diego area.
he knew nothing of the $13.5 million dollar law suit.
when i tried to tell him that this is a systemic problem, and that this could perhaps be the tip of the ice burgh.
Eventually, as they get hit in the mighty pocket and fill up with bad publicity, it will have to change for the better. I look forward to it.

oh yep...here we go..... this weeks service meeting has a part designed to show how children should be indoctrinated and manipulated into going "out in service".
the part first asks for the disturbingly corny cartoon clip to be played on the big screen at the halls: "lets go out in service!".
(if you haven't watched it yet, please go to jw.org and watch it....you simply won't beleive it until you see it!).
Parents have the right to bring up their children according to their own religious beliefs and convictions. It is done continuously in all walks of life, then why not in the JW persuasion as well? Try fighting against that right and see how well that works out for you all!

Child abuse is something to worry about. However, it's one of so many societal ailments that cannot be stopped. Predators exist in every conglomerate and they find a way to victimize someone.
With all these cases coming to light, there will inevitably be reform in the laws inside the Org, like background checks for all in search of a position of authority and reporting all abuse cases to the local authorities; that is the only good thing about this mess. Nevertheless, predators will never cease in this or any other Org.

im 15 and a couple weeks ago i confessed to my parents that i didn't want to be a jehovahs witness anymore and also that i was bisexual.
i had just gotten back from an eating disorder clinic and my parents decided to put me back in school (i was homeschooling before).
15? Please, you don't even know who you are or what you really want/need at this point.
For now cOncentrate in school, and allow yourself to finish your body/mind development. When crazy hormones stop raging, then figure out what path to take in life.
Teenagers are so melodramatic! This is why is not a good idea letting them get baptized.

the sexual abuse coverups are now getting traction.
i can leave now without retribution from friends and family.
i can simply say i will no longer represent an organization that protects pedaphiles as rampant as the catholic church!

No.
Not participating in the preaching work is not a disfellowshipping offense by itself. However, it's often a symptom of something more serious going on beneath the surface. Usually inactive JWs do end up disfellowshipped in the long run because of conduct unbecoming a Christian.

true story: once i was auxiliary pioneering in october and got the flu mid-month.
naturally i had to get those sixty (dating myself) hours in and i was at fifty on 10/30.
Preaching work during any holiday is among the worse ways to waste one's time. Never did it, and never will.
